After months of designing, trial and error, as well as working with our manufacturing team, we are proud to announce three brand new seat patterns. TMI does not take the pattern design process lightly, we scoured the custom vehicle scene and identified trends to get up-to-date intel on what is currently popular in the interior industry.
A pattern that got an overwhelming response from all that were involved with its development is the Double Diamond Stitch. The classic diamond stitch has been a stalwart of the custom scene for decades and for good reason too; it has appeared in a lot of vehicles including hot rods, motorcycles, and even high-end late-model vehicles. But the real reason is that is classically cool and will never go out of style. Being a leader in the automotive interior industry, TMI wanted to not only put a modern twist on it and show off our talented manufacturing team at the same time. The Double Diamond Stitch pattern was created to capitalize on what was so popular for so many years and and can be installed on 1967-1987 Chevy C10 trucks as well as 1967-1972 Chevy Suburbans.
Another reason we created the Double Diamond is that we saw the potential to incorporate the central design into other patterns. One example of that is the Double Diamond with Stripe pattern. We took the elements of what made a previous design very popular, subbed in the Double Diamond Stitch pattern, and created an altogether new pattern that blends the best elements together. Our Double Diamond with Stripe pattern gives a little visual breakup to the diamond pattern itself, lends a little more color to the actual pattern, and has a triangular section on the top and bottom that adds a little more artistic flourish as well. The Doubler Diamond with Stripe was given guaranteed fitment on our 1966-1967 Chevelle interior product line.
Upon looking for another pattern to create, TMI decided to go a little into the racing side of the automotive interior industry and create a pattern that would be accepted by those that have a little bit of a heavy foot and like the smell of race gas and burnt rubber. The Super Sport pattern was created to emulate the racing stripes that appear on so many vehicles that go fast. The seat itself has a lot of contrast stitching which then can help incorporate the exterior color scheme but also uses suede to add comfort and style to the vehicle that may spend a good portion of its life on a track. The Super Sport pattern can currently be seen 1968-1972 Chevy Nova product line.
TMI’s patterns are the result of a great number of people working together with influences coming from patternmakers, marketing, sales, and the research and development team. The actual production of these patterns were put together by TMI’s incredibly talented material cutters, sewers, and patternmakers. With these new patterns, TMI is confident that it is staying on top of what the custom vehicle industry is calling out for, and responding with designs that are not only modern but bring along a sense of nostalgia.
